During the summer of 1997, I saw a possible need to help folks setup new computers. I designed a brochure for this and distributed them to computer sales shops around Jacksonville, FL. People started calling and I got started this way. Then, a friend of mine who owned a restaurant, called me on New Year's Eve. He planned to stay open past midnight so his patrons could celebrate at the restaurant. He called me about 8pm because the computer that took the credit card purchases had crashed - a disaster for him. Because I did not know the machine, I could not help, but it sparked an idea. If I took a computer on as mine for tech support, I could possibly recover it in such an instance, and that was the birth of my computer service business. Though I knew about virtual private networks as a way to connect to computers, I did not use it until I discovered my present provider of this service. With my partnership with 3AMLabs, I developed Remote Tech Support or RTS. (I first thought of calling it by its proper name, Remote Access Tech Support, but that spelled RATS!) One satisfied customer is a property and casualty insurance agent. I later added antivirus, antispyware, popup elimination, and more. Shortly after that I added web site design (and example of a site is a Christian school that uses technology), then computer sales, followed by accessory sales, like LCD flat screen monitors. Today we have numerous clients and regular sales. It is our sincere desire to serve our customers with the most reasonable prices. We are more concerned with keeping the clients we get than we are in getting new clients. Feel free to send us feedback through our Contact Us page. Information About Cleaning Files on a Computer All computers need at least some cleaning and most need a lot of cleaning. We have discovered that even new computers need servicing: they need antivirus installed, advertisement removed and they almost always need to be defragged. You can keep your computer from accumulating too much junk by cleaning the Internet Temp files, running Disk Cleanup and defragging about once per month. However, this does not keep most of the more serious stuff off your computer. With Remote Tech Support, we get in and remove junk files the get into Windows, eradicate serious malware (stuff that can hurt your computer), adjust settings, get updates, etc. But, you can do other things to help keep it from slowing down between servicing: turn off your computer occasionally, let your antivirus update itself and run a scheduled scan weekly, let Windows download critical updates, and do not surf web sites with gambling or adult content. |
